In your past relationships, what challenges did you face in building emotional intimacy? How did you try to overcome them?

I remember one of my relationships sem like no matter what I did, nothing made them happy. The moments I thought I was getting closer to my partner, the farther I actually was. Eventually, we sat down and I just communicated what I was feeling, and we agreed to disagree and went our seperate ways.
