It wasn’t yelling or obvious insults, which is probably why I stayed so long.
It was smaller things. Constant correction.
How I said something. How I reacted. How I handled situations.
He always framed it as helping me grow, so I kept telling myself I should appreciate it.
But after a while, I noticed I was second-guessing everything I did, even when he wasn’t around.
I didn’t feel like myself anymore, just someone trying not to mess up.
